What is the sound of silence? Linfield's Elementary students have the unique opportunity to find out by taking beginning and advanced classes in American Sign Language. These enrichment sessions are held once a week after school for twelve weeks of the semester, and students walk away not only with the ability to communicate in ASL at a basic level but also with an appreciation and a heart for deaf culture. The kids even put their new skills into practice by participating in special worship performances at the Christmas and spring concerts at the end of each session. Ultimately, these classes lay the foundation for future ASL study and participation in Candor, Linfield's High School ASL Performance Team, but perhaps more importantly, they instill a desire in the hearts of our students to share the love of Christ with a community that has often been forgotten.
